On Thursday September 6th NaturallyCurly celebrated its 20th year anniversary while kicking off New York Fashion Week with its Texture on the Runway show at Gotham Hall. With Sally Beauty as the retail sponsor, this year’s featured brands included Camille Rose Naturals, Cantu, Carol’s Daughter, Creme of Nature, Mielle Organics, Shea Moisture and The Mane Choice where all hair textures were celebrated runway style: braids, coils, locs, coiffure, tapered fros along with wild and radical manes.

Camille Rose Naturals took us to the amazonian forest with exotic ingredients from around the world. With Buruti fruit oil from the Amazon, Nangi nut oil blended with Japanese Tsubaki oil, along with Oud Oil from the Middle East, textured hair will remain full of luster, sheen, and moisture from these protein rich infused products to repair, strengthen, nourish hair. Cantu showed extreme love for the texture movement and took us on a romantic journey but in NOLA style!
Carol’s Daughter and the Pracaxi Nectar style and care line showcased each individuals uniqueness as well as their family bond which founder Lisa Price is a huge advocate for.
Creme of Nature came out with a bang for their “Afro Punk Urban Queen” utilizing the Pure Honey Collection. Celebrity hairstylist Pekela Riley liked working with the Knot Away Detangler and the Moisture Whip Twisting Cream from the collection to help set the textured looks in a crunch.
Mielle Organics showed us who was the real queen of the jungle, but most importantly, there can alway be more than one queen when we build one another up!
Shea Moisture had tropical canary yellow vibes with “Celebrating Our Shine” with the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore collection. Davina Bennett, Miss Jamaica and SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Brand Ambassador, headlined the show as the first woman to rock her afro in all its splendor at the Miss Universe pageant, being crowned 2nd Runner-Up. Davina led this charge with celebrity stylist & Shea Moisture Textured Hair Ambassador, Diane C. Bailey. Bailey fave product to use this year was the Conditioning Design Foam used to create Davina’s texture.
The Mane Choice CEO Courtney Adeleye was prepared for a runway battle representing hair art all the way from Detroit!
