I’m Back At Sephora This Month

Before the new year rolls in you can visit me at the Sephora in Center City on Christmas Eve. From 12-6pm I’ll be serving my Original Moxie knowledge, along with hair stylist Ve, and giving complimentary scalp massages + hair analysis for anyone who wants to wind down, relax, and talk about your hair care needs during the evening time shopping rush. It’s always a great idea to think about yourself, especially during this time of year, so we’ll help you create the the best hair care options tailored for your wavy, curly, or kinky hair while learning more about what Original Moxie has to offer. If you like what you experience you can always pick up a few products for yourself

Are you curious to see what really goes down at Sephora with Original Moxie? Check out the video recap from my previous post and I’ll be glad to catch up with you once we meet again!

Christmas Gift Guide Idea #2: Origins Hydrating Holiday Sets

Origins is a skincare brand that’s been around since the 80’s but I just recently discovered how great their products are after participating in the Cosmetic and Fragrances Essential Workshop at Macy’s Center City. I had the opportunity to share my thoughts on a handful of selected products I tried and discussed my thoughts on my fall or winter essentials. Now that I’ve added Origins to my daily skin care routine, I had to let you in on the exclusive set, Like A Dream, only available at Macy’s and my other favorite set you’ll find (you know us girls like to have options!).

All images are from FanmDjanm.com

It’s time to get that Christmas gift list out so you can check it more then once or twice! The holiday season has been in the air for quite some time now and we understand that Christmas has nothing to do with baring gifts for the ones you love but there is something exhilarating about surprising someone with a gift that reminds them of how much you were thinking about them during a joyous time of year. To go along with the infamous 12 days of Christmas I’ll crank out 12 gift ideas this month that a naturalista, or a friend who enjoys splurging on beauty finds, would be excited to receive as a gift. Let’s see what the first gift idea has in store:

Indie Poncho & Cape Flare

Our stomaches are still filled with Thanksgiving goodness from the night before (and I bet we’re all still stuffed too!). Since there will be plenty of left overs for the next few days, trying to keep your pants fastened or keeping your figure right may be a tiny challenge. That’s when stylish accessories like a poncho or cape will keep you in comfort with bohemian and indie inspired flare. A poncho or cape can be worn alone as outerwear, when out and about grabbing the steals this Black Friday, or layered with a variety of clothing like wool jackets, wide brimmed hats, and leather boots. Which ever way you choose a simple outfit addition to your wardrobe will work all in your favor!

Here are a few stores where you can find a stylish steal for yourself or as a gift for someone else:

Norstrom ‘Wanderlust’ Blanket Poncho $18.73

Gap Ribbed Poncho $69.99

Century 21 Heartsoul Fringe Poncho $24.99

Madewell Side Zip Poncho Coat $109.99

Thanks To K Beauty For Putting Us On To #GlassNails

There is a big buzz surrounding Korean Beauty products these days as every magazine editor, along with beauty retailers like Sephora, highlight the natural and concentrated Asian beauty products to women with all types of skin concerns. The founder of K Beauty and the co-founder of Glow Recipe, a site of carefully curated natural, harsh-free accessible beauty products from Korea, Sarah Lee shared the latest products during the preview at Kakaboka Salon, which was Manhattan’s first Korean Hair salon that became known for servicing celebrities, in Koreatown. There were a variety of items showcased from the benefits of using sea kelp sheet masks to moisturizers packed with cactus plant and budding Tremella mushrooms that resembled beautiful flowers. The most fascinating demo was the glass nails created by Korean Celebrity Manicurist, K-nail trend leader, and founder of Unistella Eun Kyung Park. The intricate iridescent design was inspired by the abalone fish shell while Park was out having dinner one evening.

[Event Recap] Sephora x Original Moxie You’re An Original

All images and video by AJ James of AjsCulture.com

I’m back with an amazing video recap of the natural hair event at Sephora I was able to take part in last weekend! I have worked with Original Moxie in the past (check out my older posting here) and was so excited that myself, and my stylist friend Ve, were brand experts sharing our knowledge with other women and men.

During the event we focused on the Extra Moisturizing products, since wavy or curly hair textures require more moisture, and highlighted the Get Clean! No-Foam Shampoo and the Intense Quench Deep Conditioner, along with many more. If you ever have any questions about the products you can always shoot me a message or comment!

V. Bozeman Serenades Philly During the Love ‘n Soul Experience Tour

All images are captured by AJ James of AjsCulture.com

Last night Raheem DeVaughn, Leela James and V. Bozeman brought the Love ‘n Soul Experience Tour to the TLA (Theater of Living Arts) and it was a bumping good time! The beautiful V. Bozeman kicked off the show right at 8pm and the crowd waited tentatively for her to drop the first note. Her bronzed skin glistened in the spot lights with her fierce and signature low cut, and the cranberry hued deep plunge romper was right on trend for the perfect fall look. She started off with “Hourglass,” written by the aggressive Music Mogul, Lucious Lyon, played by Terrance Howard in FOX’s “Empire” hit series.  The crowd was transitioned into, and rocked to, the edgy “Music Is My Boyfriend” lyrics as the mood moved into Black empowerment through the thought provoking “Race Jones” song written by Ceelo Green. Bozeman’s latest single, “Smile,” was also a part of the set and it made me want to go ahead and download the song from iTunes as she performed it because the energy was so live!

Misty Copeland Shares Her Journey Through New Film ‘A Ballerina’s Tale’

Misty Copeland has proven to the classical ballet industry that she will not back down or give others the power to define her strength because she “has pulled herself up the ladder at American Ballet Theater (ABT) from the studio company to the corps de ballet to soloist” (AballerinasTale.com) and let us not forget that Copeland was also named Principal Ballerina June of this year. This film could not have came at a more perfect time and I can’t wait to see what Director/Producer Nelson George was able to create. I’ll be waiting for the film to hit a theater near me in Philly but until that happens you can view the film at select theaters below.

20th Anniversary of The Million Man March But Where Was The Press Coverage?

The first Million Man March took place in Washington, D.C. on October 16, 2015 and yesterday marked the 20th anniversary since the movement’s inception. The gathering was meant to encourage and uplift the black men and their communities. Snap shot present day, it was great to see the march holding strong and powerful this year as many women, children, and other ethnicities congregated together for the “Justice or Else” theme led by Louis Farrakhan who is the leader of the Nation of Islam.
