Madewell Party Time: Welcome to Philadelphia

This week the premium denim and women’s apparel brand, Madewell, opened its new location in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square and I was glad to celebrate with them. Walking into the boutique I could sense the brand’s essence right away from the structured wooden shelves creating clean lines against the white interior. The room being brightly lit gave off an energetic vibe that was more than welcoming. Once I took in the view, I worked my way around the room as I bounced to the techno tunes remixed by DJ Chaisely from New York. I browsed through the assortment of cable knit sweaters with leather elbow patches, flirty collard dresses, and the wooden accessory stand on the entrance floor before heading to the upper level.

This was by far my favorite area. It housed the ‘Denim Bar’ and displayed the free in-house hemming services. This is extremely important for someone like myself who has a petite frame and short torso. Finding inches of extra fabric dragging beneath my feet is something I won’t miss when trying on jeans thanks to Madewell. They even revamped their denim to give a little stretch action without the extra bagging.

I jumped at the chance to try on my first pair of Madewell jeans and was paired with a lovely associate who helped me find the correct size, style, and denim wash. I took the boyfriend jeans and two pairs of the Skinny Skinny jeans to the spacious fitting room. The Skinny Skinny black coated denim jean was a winner for me because of the versatility. The fabric gave the illusion of leather pants and could easily go with a pair of chunky suede heels or my high top Chuck Taylors with a cropped sheep skin like jacket. I also tried on the Penifield Hooded Mountain Parka in Khaki after spotting it on the mannequin. I’ve been looking for a comfy everyday jacket and the hooded parka is it. The plaid flannel inside and Teflon fabric protector is tough enough to keep me dry and warm during the chilly rainy seasons without compromising style. The parka was very flattering and its mid-thigh length was long enough to keep my little bum warm too! (I took pics of me trying on the Parka and the jeans but the image was too dark and didn’t look right)

The associates were super friendly and kept a constant flow of appetizers and cocktails like prosciutto wrapped blue cheese, crab cakes, and champagne, catered by White Dog Cafe, in rotation. They encouraged everyone to interact with Madewell on Instagram using #MadewellPhilly. Each time I uploaded an image I went to the Insta-Print station for my personal image which makes a great scrapbook addition. This and the hand-made ‘Bien Fait’ tote bags made the experience like no other. So if you’re in Rittenhouse Square stop in Madewell at 1716 Walnut Street for a one of a kind jean experience!
