The first Million Man March took place in Washington, D.C. on October 16, 2015 and yesterday marked the 20th anniversary since the movement’s inception. The gathering was meant to encourage and uplift the black men and their communities. Snap shot present day, it was great to see the march holding strong and powerful this year as many women, children, and other ethnicities congregated together for the “Justice or Else” theme led by Louis Farrakhan who is the leader of the Nation of Islam.
Singer and songstress, V Bozeman, performed her Race Jones song at the march’s opening ceremony on Friday night as other notable people like television journalist and motivational speaker Jeff Johnson and the parents of Trayvon Martin, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, played a role in the ceremony as well.

Late Saturday night a friend on my Instagram feed posted and comment that made total sense:
Of course we always hear the stories about black communities being violent, black on black crime, riots, and police brutality against our people (or your brother and my sisters for that matter). What does a peaceful march get us. NOTHING. I could barley find any images of the event taking place and I sure enough didn’t hear the news channels bragging about it. Since I have a vessel to share my thoughts and insights with others, I wanted to make sure I was able to shed some light on the matter for our community.
